Reflections

When you look at what is takes to run a big event it amazes me what was achieved at the 2020 Ambassadors training event 2013. They ran 2 large events back to back as well as focussing on other 2020 education issues.

These two events were overwhelmingly successful and helped boost the profile of 2020 Education. The showcase event had a 4 camera live filming team, a pop up radio station, live bloggers, tour guides to take guests round our "journey of 2020 education" art installation. Presentations from schools and young people and I felt very proud this was all the work of young people who had only known each other for 3 days. It shows what is possible when the mind becomes focussed.

So it gives me great hope for the success of 2020 Education in the future and as I reflect on the 4 corner stones to which I measure success, I can tick them off one by one:

  1. Was the project educational - Yes
  2. Did the project involve active participation - Yes
  3. Was the project inclusive - Yes
  4. Did the project empower young people - Yes
Well done to the staff team who facilitated this process but even bigger well done to the young people who proved once again we should not underestimate young people in their abilities to make things happen.
